In the days of the Yiddish theater, a man bought a ticket to see a play. Before the show had gone fifteen minutes, though, he hurried out and asked the woman in the box office for his money back.

“You don’t like the show?” asked the ticket seller.

“No, I like it; it’s a nice show.”

“Well, what then, you didn’t have a good seat?”

“No, it was a fine seat.”

“Well, what’s the problem?” demanded the ticket seller.

“Frankly” said the man, “I’m just scared to sit alone in the theater!”
